The Cuban Swimmer is a play about a young girl competing in a swimming race while her family is supporting her and they are also having their issues from afar.

One Acts, is an event in which district 8 theater troupes compete against each other aiming for an excellence or superior from the judges. “Whatever score we get. it is because we deserved it.” stated Activities Director Mr. Graff.

Troupe 1576 got a superior rating for their performance. The first time they have achieved this in over five years

This play was performed here in Hialeah High school. This performance was also used to perform at a district level competition.

According to the drama president, senior Bella Romero, who has attended One Acts for her entire high school career “it is a great and exciting experience to also meet new people.”

The students who attend Hialeah Senior High host this One Acts event. The best and most stressful part of this event is that it is held in Hialeah High. “It’s a very serious job but also a fun time.” said drama teacher and club sponsor Mrs. Colon.

Troupe 1576 is now in the preparation stages for district competition in which they will perform individual events. After that it’s on to state competition in Tampa, Fl.
