Principal Message

Welcome Back! I am incredibly excited to begin the 2018-2019 school year. I am eager to have students back in our classrooms and hallways filling them with jovial energy and a genuine enthusiasm for learning. This promises to be a year brimming with opportunities for all of our students, as we strive to surpass the numerous accomplishments of previous years. Expectations are high after an amazing 2017-2018 school year where Hialeah High amassed a prodigious amount of accomplishments:

  • Over 5.5 million dollars in scholarships
  • Projected graduation rate of 87%
  • 205 Merit Designations; 53 Scholar Designations; 48 Bi-Literacy Seals and 105 Superintendent’s Diploma of Distinction
  • 1 POSSEE Scholarship Winner
  • 9 Silver Knight Nominees and one Honorable Mention
  • 80 Seniors signed Academic Scholarships to Yale, Syracuse, LSU, NYU, U.M., F.I.U., U.F., Miami Dade Honors College just to name a few
  • Girls Water Polo State Champions, first South Florida Public High School to ever do so
  • Baseball District Champions
  • Magnet Schools of America Merit School of Excellence
  • Allied Health Academy recognized by the National Academy Foundation
  • STEAM Designated School for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year
  • Advanced Placement Program with an over-all passing rate of 55%, with 2 students earning perfect scores in our AP Capstone Program, only 117 achieved perfect scores in the world
  • Top 100 athletic program in Florida in 9A, first time in school history

Sorry, but I felt it necessary to boast and reflect on a year that clearly illustrated the work ethic and drive of our students, teachers, and support staff in preparing our T-Breds throughout their four-year experience at Hialeah High. By providing a rigorous and engaging academic curriculum that challenges our students to think, problem solve, create, collaborate, and strive for success I know that we will continue to develop the leaders of tomorrow.  We believe that all students should graduate from high school prepared for the demands of postsecondary education, meaningful careers, and effective citizenship.  The 21st century is here and our students are ready to meet its challenges.

At Hialeah High students participate in over 30 clubs and organizations supporting initiatives in the school district and our community. In athletics, we have added golf and track continuing to expand options in an athletic program where academics always comes first. I am excited to see the accomplishments the 2018-2019 school year will bring, and you should be too. “It takes a village to raise a child;” I’m beyond honored to be granted the opportunity to lead our village into the future.

Sincerely,

Heriberto Sanchez, Principal
